The Cleveland Teachers Union is participating in the AFT Teacher Leaders Program. In the fall, twelve participants were selected from more than thirty applicants to develop their leadership skills. We meet monthly to learn about various ways to affect change. We discuss a number of topics centering around the policies we encounter every day in the field of education. Guest speakers add depth and bring additional perspectives to the discussion. Currently, the Teacher Leaders are conducting action research to facilitate change for our members and the students we serve. They have completed a literature review of the prior research on their chosen topic. To make connections between the research and what happens in our region, participants are conducting surveys. Your participation in the surveys would be greatly appreciated as your voice matters!

The survey topics include: TDES, Literacy Coaches, Universal Screening for Preschool, Teacher Voice, ELL, Teacher Burnout, Teacher Training Programs, MD/Augism Best Practices, Student Support Team Process, & Science of Middle School Educator Burnout Description: This survey is gathering data from all educators around teacher burnout. Audience: All CTU members TDES Description: I am gathering feedback to look at your perspective as well as the impact of the TDES evaluation tool on ratings. Audience: All teachers Literacy Coaches Description: This survey is looking to gather data around having data coaches in schools. Audience: All teachers Teacher Voice Description: This survey is looking to provide the voice and perspective of the teachers to close the achievement gap. Audience: All teachers ELL Description: This survey is gathering data from all educators about their preparedness to serve ELL students. Audience: All teachers Teacher training programs Description: This survey is collecting information focusing on teacher training programs at the college/university level. Are Ohio educators being adequately trained in Ohio’s reading preparations programs to support them in the classroom? Audience: All teachers MD/Autism Best Practice Survey Description: The information collected through this survey will be used in conjunction with research around best practices at CMSD in guards to BEST practice and support for students in md/autism classrooms. Audience: MD/Autism teachers, special education paraprofessionals Universal Screening for Preschool Description: This survey is gathering data surrounding universal screening for preschoolers during enrollment.
