I am calling the Governor to ask him to line item veto the House Bill 96 provision that significantly reduces the elected members of the STRS Board while increasing the appointed seats. Educators have been elected members of the STRS Board for more than 100 years. Recent changes in the elected members have led to the most significant returns on investment that the Board has seen in many years. This provision unfairly targets and undermines only one of the five public pension systems. It silences the voices of retired and active teachers in Ohio who have elected local educators to represent them on the STRS Board. Please veto this provision from HB 96 to preserve the voices of the hard-working Ohioans who elected Educators to the STRS Board. Thank you.
