  Tentative Program for 2025 - 2026 SY:

  Legislative Committee Goals:
  1.CTU Political Events: The first goal of the Legislative Committee will be to organize and mobilize our members to become active in the political landscape. This has been on-going and will continue to be the focus of this committee.

  
  2.Interactions with our Elected Officials: The second goal of the Legislative Committee will be to organize events and or speaker series with our locally elected officials and members of the political community. We want to hear from our elected officials on education and policy initiatives. Speakers will include Cleveland City Council members, OFT and AFT leadership, State and U.S. Representatives, and current and former CTU leadership.

  
  Legislative Committee Events: The first Monday of each month, the MML team and Legislative Team join a statewide solidarity call led by Melissa Miser and Darold Johnson of OFT. The third Monday of each month, the MML team meets in person at the CTU office to discuss upcoming organizing efforts and events.
  Events throughout the year include organizing the Labor Day Parade, the upcoming October 18th NO KINGS 2.0 Protest, a COPE Drive later this fall, organizing volunteers for canvassing during the upcoming mayoral and city council general election (for endorsed candidates), participating in candidate briefings in conjunction with the NorthShore AFL - CIO, and other politically related events as they come about.

Governor Veto Overrides - Action Needed

CTU Brothers & Sisters, If you read my update from Friday, you know that Governor DeWine line item vetoed several provisions in HB 96, the Ohio budget. Speaker Huffman – and other extremists in the legislature – are trying to override three of the line item vetoes that are important to public education.
