Believe it or not, it is already time to prepare for Fall Staffing and OPI II. Attached is the BEST Rubric that needs to be completed by all teachers and returned to the Chair and the Principal by Monday, August 25. Attached is the BEST Rubric (it does not need to be printed, it is fillable and can be emailed to both the Chapter Chair and the Principal) and the BEST Rubric Clarification Form.
A few notes:
- Only teachers are required to complete a BEST Rubric form.
- Years of Experience DOES NOT include the 2025-26 school year.
- All BEST Rubrics will be reviewed by Principal and Chapter Chair before being turned in to HR.
- There are NO Areas of Specialized Training, so this will be N/A for all teachers.
- If a teacher is transferred, then effective on the first day of the second grading period, this person carries with him/her all system seniority accumulated to that time (Article 12, Section 4, A). What this means is that if Necessary Transfers are needed you would look at the scores on the B.E.S.T Rubric of those who were new to the building first. This includes new hires and transfers (OPI, NT’s, and Special Transfer).
Below is the email that was sent to all principals on Wednesday:
Hello Principals,
The FALL ADJUSTMENT WINDOW is right around the corner. Fall adjustment requires a tight turnaround, and we want to be sure you have all of the information you need so that you can take proper action.
Here are the steps you will need to take at this time:
Attached to this email you will find the updated B.E.S.T. Rubric clarification and the B.E.S.T Rubric form. The B.E.S.T. Rubric score is used to determine necessary transfers. All Teachers assigned to your building are required to complete this form by Monday, August 25, 2025. Paraprofessionals do not complete a BEST rubric. The completed form MUST be submitted to the Principal and the Chapter Chairperson no later than this date.
Information provided by the teacher should be verified by the Principal and Chapter Chair before sending to the Talent Management Partner. Principals have access to the report named CMSD Staffing Roster Report for My Staff using the search box in their Workday account. Once you select the report you will have access to view your schools supervisory org. You will find name, job title, certification(s), contract status, seniority date and more.

Please forward the completed B.E.S.T. Rubrics by email to your Talent Management Partner by Thursday, August 28, 2025. If possible, please return them in ALPHABETICAL ORDER after you have taken the time to review and ensure one has been received from all teaching staff.
